Pop up box card

Happy Saturday :o)

I spotted a fold that I wanted to try when I was browsing Silhouette files, but I don't have access to my Silhouette at the moment (long story involving the craft room move, bad planning, shelf units and plug sockets...), but I figured it couldn't be too difficult to work the fold out myself, so I did!  This one's for a customer, so the design gave me plenty of room to fit in all their requirements.

Photos from umpteen angles in an attempt to show you the fold...

To give you the basic gist...
1. Start with a standard square card (mine is almost 8" square), score and fold the front in half.
2. Cut a strip of card the same length as your card when fully opened out, and score the same folds in reverse... Stick this piece in place and that forms your box fold.
3. If you want the pop up sections (like the beer and sentiment in the centre of mine), cut strips of acetate (or card if you don't mind them showing) half the width of your card front, plus an inch.  Score and fold half an inch each side to form tabs.  Stick the tabs in place within your centre 'box', then add your pop up pieces. Done!

Cosmos Flowers in Blue

Hello... another midweek post, I'm on a roll lol.

This one's very similar to a pink card I made recently - mum asked me for another one.  I'd actually planned on making one in purples, so started with Shaded Lilac distress ink, which appears to be totally blue here... never mind eh?!

Items Used
Stamp - Woodware Cosmos Flowers
Colouring - Distress Inks and Nuvo Aqua Shimmer (glitter pens)
Creative Dies Stencils - Leaves
Background, stenciling & colouring - Distress Inks in Shaded Lilac, Shabby Shutters & Scattered Straw
Memento Ink in Paris Dusk (for the sentiment)
Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White (dots around image)
Pearls & ribbon from my stash

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Simon Says (Monday) - stencil it
Ribbon Girls - any image + ribbon
Allsorts - flower power

Also, I've just set up Instagram (at last!)... I've no idea what I'm doing with it really, but if you use it I'm on there as wishcraftcards.  Finding it a bit scary and confusing at the moment, but I don't like new things... hopefully I'll get used to it!

Thanks for popping in :o)

Sweet Stampin' - for Dads or Special Men

Hello :o)

I'm a bit late with my Sweet Stampin' DT card, as it was our 10th wedding anniversary this weekend and I just didn't manage to squeeze in blogging.  Our theme for this week is 'for Dads or special men', so I made Pav's anniversary card using a fun new stamp I bought recently...

It comes with a few different sentiments... I've just repeated the 'love you' one.  It's also huge, so I adapted a 6" square card to fit it.  Coloured with copics (badly, as one of my pens started to run out halfway through colouring!), the papers are scraps from an old My Minds Eye pad.

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Simon Says - anything goes
Crafty Cardmakers - special man/ boy or Father's Day
Addicted to Stamps - animals
Crazy 4 Challenges - repeat 3 times (stamped 'love you' 3 times)

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely evening :o)

Pink Cosmos Flowers

Hello again!  I've been a bit quiet lately, don't tend to make much when it's hot... I get very very slow...

I did manage to finish a card at last, so here it is.

I played with a leafy stencil and some distress inks to make the 'paper', and inks again for around the flowers.  The flowers were embossed in white and then painted with distress crayons (scribble them on a craft mat, pick up with a water brush), then covered in a fab new sparkly shimmer pen (wish photos would show the shimmer!).  The flower centres and tiny white dots around the image were made using Nuvo Crystal Drops... I just bought them in white to try them out, and I really like them - they dry a bit like enamel dots, but in whatever size/ shape you need, so now I want more colours!

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Simon Says - anything goes
Crafty Cardmakers - floral profusion

It's our wedding anniversary at the weekend, so hopefully I can make a card for Pav a bit quicker than I took with this one!  Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely evening :o)

Celebrate...

Hello :o)

I thought I'd never get this posted!  Blogger just wouldn't work using Chrome... got fed up watching the whirring thing (technical term lol) while it tried to load, and then gave up and tried through Explorer, seems to be working so far.  I seem to remember that I originally swapped over to Chrome because Explorer wouldn't work for Blogger though!

Anyway!  I bought some goodies from Craft Stash recently, so here's a card using some of them.  I'm really pleased with the stitched scalloped dies - they're great sizes, this one is the 3rd largest die (on a 6" square card), they'll come in very handy I think.  Every now and then I get an urge to sand down some core'dinations cardstock, and I think it works really well with embossing, especially for men's cards... I never seem to have enough male cards even though I really like making them!

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Simon Says - going dotty
The Male Room - stars
Cute Card Thursday - dies & punches
My Time to Craft - masculine

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely evening :o)
