Less is More wk 12 (again, sorry!)

Yep, I'm having another go at the 'off centre' challenge at Less is More this week!  I don't usually enter more than once, but I was trying to do something else and it just wasn't working out.  So I gave up and got some random stuff out to play with instead.

This card I like...

And this one I really don't like!

I wouldn't normally blog a card that I dislike as much as this one, but there's a reason I have done... this stamp set (a Papermania CCSR set) was one of the first I bought not long after I started card making.  It put me off stamping for a long time!  The stamps are quite soft and I just couldn't seem to use them.  I wasted so much card trying - there's some lovely flowers in the set that I really wanted to use but couldn't get a decent impression.  I put them away and decided I wasn't really a stamper.  Obviously I eventually changed my mind, and have got more confident, and I'm AMAZED that I've actually managed to use one of these stamps - and on linen card too!  However, I hate the design, the sentiment is far too pale... it's all wrong.

The other reason I've posted this card is that Katina once asked me if I ever made a bad card, and this is proof that I absolutely do lol!  AND look what you're doing to me Chrissie and Mandi - I made a one layer card without being told I HAD to!!

**Edited - Following Mandi's suggestion, I've 'lopped a bit off' :o)  Any better?**

Hope you've all had a fab time today!  We've had a big dinner at Pav's mum's so I haven't had any chocolate yet... looking forward to my lovely big Dairy Milk egg now though :o)

Hi Lisa, love the first one and I don't think the second is as bad as you think, if I made it I would have been pleased lol. I also agree about a bad stamp set making you think you aren't a stamper, I have recently discovered stamping after trying unsuccessfully years ago and I even bought a stamp at the car boot this morning that is more complicated than any I have tried before.
Enjoy your choccie egg.

love the first one with those juicy beads! i don't think the second one is that bad, yes the sentiment is a bit pale but that's all x

I absolutely love the first card Lisa, a lovely CAS card. I have to be honest the second one I'm really not sure about, I think its the design of the stamp and I would struggle with that stamp too - perhaps you could use the stamp as petals and make it into a flower or even a different coloured ink may work - a deeper more vibrant shade - would that work? I always show my cards I hate too and you'd be surprised what other people think. Hugs, Claire x

Love your first card Lisa, it's FAB
the second isnt as bad as you say,m it's probably the placement, maybe if one had been off the page a bit, it may have been better, and even in a stronger colour. You could lop a bit off the side maybe!
sorry I've picked it to bits lol
Thanks Lisa, as always, Im impressed you're in practice for the OLC

Your first card is fabulous, love it. The second isn`t a bad card but not up to your usual standard. It would maybe work as a background stamp in a stronger colour.

Love your first card Lisa. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the second one! Maybe a different colour? I think I would struggle with it.

Hi Lisa, you always make me laugh!
Your first card is just perfect and has Lisa 'stamped all over it', if you know what I mean. Your second card is not a 'bad' card, it's just not you and I think that's why you don't like it. Does that make sense?!! xx

I love both cards, the first for colour and the second for perseverance. Those reasons aren't the only ones, but I just love the cards.

I've not done stamping for the same reason,

Lisa, I do love the first card...and sometimes it helps to post the ones we don't like as someone can usually tell us what is wrong...and we can't see it!

I adore card one, and card two definitely looks better trimmed down. I think it's funny, after following the LIM challenge for the 12 weeks, and making a card every time, I too made a one layer card with out having to be told...

Basically: what "they" said! First card excellent, second one better cropped....those pearls are a good match for the sentiment, how about adding some near it to "tie" the deeper shade in? It's hard to love something that hasn't turned out how you thought it would, I know. Thanks for sharing your familiar-to-me "issues" :-) Dee

This is a very interesting post Lisa for several reasons, but your judgement is perfect. The first card is super and making the second into an 'off the edge'version, lends so much more interest to it... but even then it's still not your finest creation.
If we weren't particular or critical about our work, we'd never progress and the standard of your work hints of superb self judgement!
Super Lisa!

The first card is fantabulous, love those stripes. I am not a fan of paisley so the second one doesn't do it for me, but if the sentiment had been the same blue as the main images it could have worked :o)

Hi Lisa, I love the sripes and stars on the first card and like everyone else I don't think the 2nd is that bad either...I'm pants at single layer cards and I always admire the ones you make...that includes card 2 :) Donna x

LOVE the strong colours and shapes of your first card. There's nothing wrong with the second card other than perhaps a stronger colour for the sentiment. I agree that the cropped version looks better though.

I love both of your cards Lisa, love the bright colours of the first with the stars, love the layout. Amazing you can remember your first stamp, I love the blue colour and it does look better with the sides chopped off! Gives a bit more focuss to it :0) Happy Easter xx

I am always in awe of how simply stunning your cards are so it's nice to see you make one that needs a little something - it fills me with hope that I can improve?!? It does look so much better with it's sides lopped off though. Enjoy the chocolate! X

Love your first card Lisa, it's simplicity is so brilliant.

Chrissie's suggestion to crop the second really works, I like how the image looks stamped off the page. Sue.x
