One Layer Sentiment...

Hello everyone :o)

Thanks for all your lovely comments on my new craft room... I'm very, very happy with it, and yes I'm very lucky!  Looking forward to many happy years of crafting in here.  If you haven't seen the pics, they're on the post below this one.

This card is my attempt at this week's challenge at Less is More, which is 'one layer sentiment'.  I still don't feel all that comfortable with one layer cards, but have had a go!

I embossed a panel for the sentiment, plus lots of 'stripes' using my scoreboard.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted, and the butterflies are from a Jane's Doodles set, stamped using Memento inks (rose bud, tangelo & cantaloupe).  I have a real urge to add a few sequins, but that's not really one layer is it?!

Hopefully I'll be back again tomorrow with another post... ooh I'm almost a real blogger again eh?!

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely evening :o)

My new craft room!

Hello everyone :o)

Thought I'd post a few photos of the new craft room, for anyone who'd like a peek at it... it was harder than I expected getting decent photos of a room though (I'd be a rubbish estate agent, eh?!).

There's a few things still to be finished, and loads still to be moved in, but I can finally craft in it, so I'm happy!

Can anyone recommend a good guillotine?  I really need to replace mine... the blade falls randomly and is going to chop my fingers off one day very soon lol.

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely evening :o)

Boys to Men - Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Happy Saturday everyone :o)

Our challenge for this week at Sweet Stampin' is 'boys to men', and we're sponsored by the fabulous All Dressed Up.

I made a doggy background on the card base, using a freebie stamp set that came with a magazine ages ago, added a big birthday sentiment from LOTV, 'wishes' sentiment from a Clearly Besotted set, and a little paw print from Paper Smooches 'Chubby Chums'.  Inked around everything with a bit of 'black soot' distress ink and finished with Doodlebug enamel dots.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new craft room :o)  It's my perfect little space, and hubby has a corner for all his computer gadgetry too, so we don't have to ignore each other when we're doing our own thing lol.  There's a couple of things to finish off and then I'll get some photos taken, but I'm soooo pleased with it so far.  It's taking FOREVER to get all my stuff moved in though, how on earth did I accumulate so much of it?!

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely evening :o)

Mother's Day (or special lady) - Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Happy Saturday everyone :o)

Our challenge for this week at Sweet Stampin' is 'Mother's Day (or special lady)' and we're sponsored by Crafts U Love with a £10 voucher for the lucky winner.

I always feel like I've cheated when I use a pre-coloured image, but this is a cute one, and I really have nowhere to sit and colour at the moment so I won't beat myself up over it!  The papers and image are LOTV, sentiment is a Clearly Besotted stamp, the leafy die is Memory Box (I think) and the flowers are from Wild Orchid.

As with everything to do with the extension, we had a few hitches getting the craft room sorted... the flooring arrived damaged and we had to wait for replacements, the joiner still hasn't been to fit the skirting boards.  He's supposedly coming tomorrow, and I have the furniture arriving this week (fingers crossed!) so I should (pleeeeeease) have a fully functional room this time next week.  Will post photos when it's all done!

Thanks for popping in... hope you all have a lovely evening :o)

Clean & Simple - Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Happy Saturday everyone :o)

I had to skip the last Sweet Stampin' challenge, as I was drowning in brick dust... I'm back this week though, and with one of my favourite challenges -  'clean & simple' (CAS).  We're sponsored by the fabulous Bunny Zoe's.  Sadly Nikki is closing down Bunny Zoe's (nooooo, say it isn't so?!), but this does mean that she has some great sale bargains at the moment, so do pop over and have a look.

I used my Cameo and a Silhouette cut file to make a simple new home card... it's a great one for using up all those little strips of card you can't bear to throw away, and a fun way to try different colour combos.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted.

So, this week I've been painting the new craft room, and on Thursday I've got the flooring being fitted... so there's only the furniture to sort out after that (oh, and move all my craft stuff into its new home), and then I'll be back to crafting again properly... ooh I can't wait, not long now!!!

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely evening :o)

Things with Wings - Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Hello everyone :o)

This should have been posted yesterday, so I apologise for running so late, but yesterday was my 40th birthday and I just didn't get chance to pick up the laptop all day!

I don't feel bad about turning 40, although Dex did sweetly point out that I'm now 4 decades old lol.  My dad was very ill when I was growing up, and his aim was to get to his 40th birthday (he had marfan syndrome)... he missed it by 6 months, so I'm grateful that I got there, and still a little sad that he didn't.

Sooo... onto this week's challenge at Sweet Stampin', where we'd like to see your 'things with wings'.  We're sponsored by Craft's and Me this week.

This one was fun to make... I picked out one of the butterflies from a Clearly Besotted set (which doesn't seem to be available now, although this set is similar), made a mask using a post it note, and then stamped a butterfly border.  Coloured it with copics, and then added a sentiment from the same set.

I had a fab birthday... we wrapped up warm and went to Filey, had a freezing cold walk on the beach with the kids and dog, and went for fish and chips of course!  On the way back to Sheffield it started to snow, but we'd planned on spending the evening at my mum's so we went anyway... the journey back was a bit scary as the snow was starting to settle and the roads were very slippy.  Snow looks so pretty, but it's better when you don't have to drive anywhere!

I got lots of lovely pressies and cards, had flowers delivered, money to kit out my new craft room when (if?!) the building work's completed, and a Samsung tablet that I'm hoping will make it easier to visit everyone's blogs.  And while we were out the extension was being fitted with its new windows and doors, so it looks almost finished from the outside now... exciting!

Right, I think I've waffled on long enough!  Off to play with my tablet and visit some of your blogs... thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely day :o)

Something New - Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Well helloooo!  Long time no post eh?

The extension was originally scheduled to be finished at the end of November... which was then revised to 'before Christmas', so I had planned a fresh start for this year, with cardmaking and blogging all hopefully getting back to normal.... BUT the extension is still not finished :o(  I'm trying not to be too grumpy about it, as it's going to be fab when it's done... but I really am ready to get everything back to normal NOW!!!  And I'm sick of making tea....

Anyway, so Abi kindly said I could return to Sweet Stampin', and I thought January would be perfect... it should have been lol!  Our challenge is Something New (stash or event)... a wedding is a new beginning, right?  There's a fab goody bag prize for one lucky winner.

I've used a gorgeous Stamping Bella stamp, coloured with copics... I'm SO rusty with these now, and keep daydreaming about the desk I'm going to set up just for colouring in my lovely new room lol.  The papers are from LOTV, corner dies are Whimsy (I think) and I added some sparkly silver Doodlebug enamel dots.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and Happy New Year too!  Fingers crossed I'll be around a bit more often very soon.

Thanks for popping in :o)
