Sweet Stampin' - sympathy or thinking of you

Happy Saturday :o)

Our challenge over at Sweet Stampin' this week is 'sympathy or thinking of you', so I thought I'd use a brand new Hydrangea Set from DigiStamp Boutique, which includes the fab flower image and lots of useful sentiments.

Image & Sentiment - Hydrangea Set - DigiStamp Boutique
Colouring - copics
(Flower B60, B21, B63, BV25  Leaves G21, G24, YG67, G99  Background E41, E42)
White linen card - Papermill Direct
Papers - Crafter's Companion
Flower centres - Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White
Twill tape - Fantastic Ribbons
Inked Edges - Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap
Pearls from my stash

I've been to test drive my new car today... eeeeeek!  For the last 17ish years I've driven a Corsa... the same Corsa for all those years, gradually getting more and more decrepit, but still plodding along and running fine.  I don't like change!  Recently I was driving along and the exhaust fell off lol, but that got fixed and all was well again.  But my lovely mum decided it was time for a new one, so she's only gone and bought me one!  It's a Nissan Note, not brand new, but a very swish and shiny upgrade from my old faithful falling to bits banger... it'll be coming home in a few days and instead of being excited I'm terrified, I can't imagine driving anything else!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend, thanks for popping in :o)

Teacher thank you cards

Happy Saturday :o)

I meant to blog my teacher thank yous earlier in the week but didn't quite get round to it... the last week of school is always so busy!  The school holidays have now officially begun (yay!) and Pav's off for the first week too (yay again!).

So anyway, onto the cards... the ginger ones were for Dex's teachers (Dex always wants ginger cats to match Boris)...

The black ones were for an order...

The blackboard/ chalkboard bases are an MFT die-namics set - I've smeared a bit of white ink onto black card for a slightly chalky effect, and kept the embellishments simple... sentiments were added using 'longandlean' font.  The fab little cat is from Gerda Steiner HERE, coloured with copics.

We actually went out last night (very rare occurrence) to see The Wedding Singer at the Lyceum theatre... I wore a (new) dress and (new) very very high heels... getting brave lol!  It was lots of fun, we really must make the effort more often.... it's much easier to throw my comfy boots on and go for a walk though!!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend... thanks for popping in :o)

Flippin' Birthday - DigiStamp Boutique DT

It... is.... too.... hot... that is all.

Here's the card I made from the kids for Pav - Dex loves pancakes, and Pav makes them as a Saturday treat most weeks, so this image seemed appropriate!

It's Ralph - Flippin' Birthday from DigiStamp Boutique, coloured with copics - the sentiment is included with the image.  I think the papers are Basic Grey, they're old ones anyway... I keep all the smaller scraps of papers together with the pads, and sometimes I like to set myself little challenges to use leftover scraps exactly as they are, without cutting them down.  It gives me new layout ideas when I'm getting bored!

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Crafty Cardmakers - lots of layers
Monthly Colour Inspiration Link Up - anything hand coloured goes
Come and Get It - use 2 or more designer papers

Thanks for popping in :o)

Sweet Stampin' - Christmas in July

Happy Saturday :o)

Our theme at Sweet Stampin' this week is 'Christmas in July'... I'm so disorganised when it comes to Christmas, anything that gets me doing some of it in advance is a very good thing!

I have no memory of buying this stamp... I had a look through my LOTV drawer (yes, a whole drawer...) for inspiration, and there it was, the sneaky wee thing!  It's called Penguin Pals and it's coloured with copics.  The papers are Doodlebug, sentiment is Clearly Besotted and the scalloped border is an MFT die.  Glamour dust and Doodlebug enamel dots to finish it off.

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Christmas at Sweet Stampin' - anything Christmas goes
Aud Sentiments - Christmas in July + a sentiment
Winter Wonderland - Christmas penguins

Thanks for popping in :o)

Cute Pup set - DigiStamp Boutique

Hello :o)

It's Pav's birthday today, so I'm just quickly sharing one of the cards I made for him... I did one from the kids too, so I'll blog that soon.

I've used an image and sentiment from the fab Cute Pup Set from DigiStamp Boutique, coloured with copics.  The papers are old ones from Prima (called Forever Young), and the twine and button are from my stash.

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Simon Says Monday - distress it
The Male Room - add texture (twine)
Crafty Girlz Challenge - anything goes + optional make it masculine

Right, I'm off out again... apparently even though we already walked for 2hrs this morning, what Pav really wants to do for his birthday is go for another walk!

Thanks for popping in :o)

Pop up box card

Happy Saturday :o)

I spotted a fold that I wanted to try when I was browsing Silhouette files, but I don't have access to my Silhouette at the moment (long story involving the craft room move, bad planning, shelf units and plug sockets...), but I figured it couldn't be too difficult to work the fold out myself, so I did!  This one's for a customer, so the design gave me plenty of room to fit in all their requirements.

Photos from umpteen angles in an attempt to show you the fold...

To give you the basic gist...
1. Start with a standard square card (mine is almost 8" square), score and fold the front in half.
2. Cut a strip of card the same length as your card when fully opened out, and score the same folds in reverse... Stick this piece in place and that forms your box fold.
3. If you want the pop up sections (like the beer and sentiment in the centre of mine), cut strips of acetate (or card if you don't mind them showing) half the width of your card front, plus an inch.  Score and fold half an inch each side to form tabs.  Stick the tabs in place within your centre 'box', then add your pop up pieces. Done!

Sweet Stampin' - stars & stripes

Happy Saturday :o)

I'm here with my DT card for Sweet Stampin', where our challenge for this week is 'stars & stripes'.

Morgan asked me for a card for his friend... now it's very easy to be unintentionally embarrassing to those teenage creatures, so I ran the image past him first, and I was also worried whether putting the age on was a no-go, but apparently that's ok too.  The finished article was deemed 'perfect'... high praise indeed coming from any male really, never mind a teenage one lol.

Items Used
Stamp - Oliver Kicking About - LOTV
Colouring - copics
Papers - Magical Adventure + Dots & Stripes - Echo Park
Number dies - Birthday Party Fun With Numbers - Crafter's Companion
Sparkle on numbers - Nuvo by Tonic Studios Aqua Shimmer (actually sort of showing up in the photos for once!)
Sentiment - Paper Smooches
Gems from my stash

I'm entering my card for the following challenges
Allsorts - a question of sport
Simon Says - anything goes
Cardz 4 Guys - stars

We're off for a walk now as it's really lovely out... it's been a very wet week, but the rain has stopped, the sun is shining and it's not too warm (I don't do hot weather!).

Thanks for popping in, hope you're all having a lovely weekend :o)

PS. the photobucket nonsense all over my blog is due to my blog background... I had it designed years ago and the person who did it must have it all stored on photobucket which is now charging for that purpose.  Not really sure what to do about it, so might just end up taking my background off altogether if I can't get it sorted!
