Less is More - one layer, birds

I thought I was going to end up missing Less is More this week... the challenge is a one layer card with a 'bird' theme.  I thought of lots of things I could use, but nothing that really suited one layer.  Then I thought of this...

It's very simple - probably too simple lol!  I've used one of the cute new valentines images from DigiStamp Boutique, available here.  I printed it onto Stampin' Up kraft card and coloured it with prisma pencils - first time I've used them on kraft and I've made a bit of a mess of it really but never mind!  The sentiment comes with the image, and the blue bakers twine is from my stash. Oh, I added some glamour dust to the hearts on the image for a bit of sparkle, not sure how well that's showing up.

I don't think I've ever mentioned before that my hubby isn't my eldest son's dad, although we met when Morgan was a baby.  I'd split up with Morgan's dad when I was pregnant... I won't go into details but there were good reasons... anyway, when I went into work to show off my new baby, there was Pav in my chair - he was my maternity leave cover lol.  It took us a long time to get together though - we were just friends for a couple of years.  There is a reason for my ramblings, honest!  Tomorrow Morgan will be going away with his 'real' dad for a family wedding - they're going to Mexico for 2wks and I'm going to miss him so much!  He's never been away from me for anywhere near that long.  So I'm popping this card in with his things, so that he'll see it while he's away and know that we're thinking about him :o)

Ma-hoosive hugs for you whilst Morgan is away. I don't know how I'd cope with my boys being away for so long - you're incredibly brave. Lose yourself in crafting whilst he's away (()).

  13. This is a lovely card and Morgan will love it. Being divorced, my kids have always had holidays and time with their Dad and usually for 1 or two weeks, so you do manage to adjust to them not being around and yes you do miss them, but you also make the most of the quiet time too. Two weeks will fly and he will be back before you know it. Hugs, Claire xx

  23. Oh goodness Lisa, I know it must be so difficult to know that Morgan is going to be away for a while and I am sure you will miss each other, but your card is a lovely idea....and I Morgan will be back with you before you know it. Best thing is to keep yourself busy with Pav, Dex and your card making.

PS - Your story about how you met Pav.......how romantic!

  24. That's such a sweet thing to do. I'm sure you'll miss him loads, but you'll have to ensure you get some quality 'me' time too. Such a cute image, and I love your fab colouring. Can't see the 'mess' you speak of. Think you need specs if you think that! Annette xx

What a lucky boy to get to go Mexico for a couple of weeks, but I can totally understand how much you will miss him - I bet he will miss you too, at first!!!

PS - Hubby and I met at work too - not maternity cover, but I'd separated from my first husband and moved back to my parents. Got myself a job and met Peter - rest is 13 years worth of history now, but still call him my 'current' hubby ;-)

  35. This is too cute, Lisa. I think it will help Morgan know how loved he is while he's with his biological dad... it sounds like Pav is more of a "real" dad to me :-) I hope it goes well for him and you (it's hard when the apron strings start pinging off, but that is our job - to let them grow up) Donna xx
