Sweet Stampin' - kraft card

Hello everyone, hope you're having a good weekend so far :o)

Our challenge for this week at Sweet Stampin' is 'kraft card'... easy peasy!  We're sponsored by Cuddly Buddly and our monthly sponsor is The Ribbon Girl.

Items Used
5" x 7" card blank - cut from kraft card - Anna Marie Designs
Sentiment stamp - Live Life - Inkylicious
Background stamp - Tim Holtz
Star punch - Hobbycraft
Button & twine from my stash

We went to Chatsworth House today - it's beautiful there, but the main attraction for the kids is the fab play area... keeps them amused for ages, Pav included lol!  We ate in the restaurant there, and Dex amazed us by eating fish fingers, broccoli and potatoes with no fuss (it even had some sauce on - eeek!  We were expecting tears).  He's the fussiest child ever and we were seeing all sorts of specialists at one stage but it never got us anywhere.  We've just had to give it time, and finally he's starting to try new things, and I could just cry with relief every time he tries something and likes it.  It's hard to explain to anyone who's never experienced extreme fussiness/ food phobias but it's wonderful even if he tries something unhealthy - last week it was a sausage roll, and someone (who shall remain nameless!) commented that it wasn't the best food to be encouraging, but I really don't care what it is, as long as it's something new!  His most extreme 'fear' is bread, and I really will cry if he ever gets as far as trying that!

Sorry, that ended up being a bit a ramble... hopefully those with fussy kids will understand, and maybe it'll even give someone a bit of hope that things can improve!

Hope you all have a lovely evening :o)

  2. Lovely card Lisa, really like Kraft and red together. Yay on Dex eating fish fingers, I understand fussy eating food phobias and had a cousin who ate nothing except roast potatoes and farleys rusks for a few years. It takes time and patience and an understanding family and Dex really has one of those. Hugs, Amanda x

Yay for Dex, and glad you liked Chatsworth. I've only been a couple of times when we've been up in Sheffield, but I agree it's lovely.

  8. Fabby card Lisa, I love that sentiment.

Great news about Dex, Lisa. Poppy ate anything from when she started solids but now won't eat some of the things she used to! But she does love pasta, houmous, olives, capers(!) and some quite exotic things for a 5 year old. Oliver seems a bit more picky but what they do like they can eat lots of. Sometimes kids like to try things they see other kids eating. I think you're right to take things slowly and let him try something new if/when he wants to.

    Have a lovely weekend.

  9. wonderful card Lisa - sounds like a great day too. My kids are both fussy but nothing unusual - they're both better since they've been of school age but it does get me down sometimes - I want us all to eat the same! One day maybe xx

  10. This is gorgeous Lisa. I love the sentiment and fabulous design.
I can totally relate to what you said about fussy eaters and realise why you feel so happy when your son tries something new, no matter what it is, it's a step in the right direction.

  11. Great card :)
My son is 15 and could no doubt have rivalled for the title of fussy eater! But it is slowly improving. I long for the day when we can all eat the same. But he is fit and healthy - so he seems to get what he needs from what he eats. On the plus side he's also reluctant to try fizzy drinks , sweets etc! Just wish more people would understand that " just give him the food and he'll eat if he's hungry" does not work when they are phobic (no idea why he was). He'd rather go hungry and new foods would cause him to gag - often before it was in his mouth!
I'm sure that being relaxed and quietly encouraging is the way to go - just easier said than done!!

  18. I love how you used kraft paper with a bit of ruffled edges to make this clean design. It's very "unisex" - as you might know by now, I really like that about a card!

  19. Fab card Lisa; love the sentiment and it looks perfect on Kraft.

Good news about Dex, I'm sure he'll carry on trying new things now. I was a very fussy eater as a child and I remember that if I didn't like the name/sound of something I couldn't bear to try it. I was about seven before I would taste pineapple and I was in my 20s before I tasted tuna!!

  20. Hi Lisa

    Love your card, as always.

Your son is a lucky little boy to have such a supportive mum. I was a very fussy eater as a child and most adults seemed to find me plain irritating for it. Hope Dex continues to try anything & everything :)

  21. Sounds like a fab day out Lisa, So glad Dex enjoyed his meal. One of my grandsons..21 is a real fussy eater although he does eat plenty of the things he does like. He picks and pokes with food though..taking out Onions/mushrooms/peppers etc. Drives us to distraction....lol
Love the card, the text is fabulous, I love it.
