Apologies for being a bit quiet over the last couple of days - everyone's ill... I've got a bit of a cold, but I'm the healthiest one out of all of us at the moment lol!  Morgan was sent home from school yesterday morning because he was hot and shivering, and it soon turned into a very yucky tummy bug.  It was quite lucky that hubby was off work poorly really, because I still had to pick Dex up from school at the normal time and Morgan was too sick to go anywhere... I've never left him at home on his own before and wouldn't want to leave him being sick, poor thing.

Soooo, I'm just hoping we don't all come down with the tummy bug now - last thing we need when we've all got a cold!  Fingers crossed eh?

Rudolf & Friends - Pink Gem Designs DT

Morning everyone :o)

It's my turn to post over on the Gems of Inspiration blog today, and I thought I'd play with one of Janet's fab new clipart sets - great for quick cards, and also for making little (or big!) scenes, and lots of fun too!

A friend, who's a nurse, asked me for a large card (this one is 8" square) for the ward she works on, so I thought I'd make a nice big scene using this cute Rudolf & Friends set.  There are loads of different elements in this set, and you could use them to make an entirely digital card, but I had this snowy layered idea in my head!  So the first layer - using trees & snowflakes from the set - was created digitally using Serif PagePlus.  I then tore (yes, me, tearing!!!) some white card into 'snow' layers, cut one of the Rudolf images out, and layered it all up.

This photo shows the layers a bit clearer...

The digi papers are Christmas Sparkles and Micro Dots, and the Merry Christmas sentiment is blank in the centre so you can add your own personalisation.  All available from Pink Gem Designs.

Well I didn't manage to get my hair done today - had to cancel my appointment because I've now got both boys off school poorly!  Sigh... really hoping Dex will be better tomorrow, although I'll probably still have Morgan off.  And hubby's starting with it too... lovely!

I've had Dex at home again today, as he was up all night coughing.  Thankfully he does seem to have improved as the day's gone on, so I've got everything crossed that he'll be back at school tomorrow... otherwise I'll have to drag him along to my hair appointment, and I quite like to do that on my own!

Hello everyone :o)  Is it just me, or is coming up with remotely interesting post titles one of the trickiest things about blogging?!  This one's especially uninspired.

I've had a much better day today... Dex is still poorly, but hubby was home so I escaped for lots of peace in the craft room lol.  I'm not sure if he's going to be well enough for school tomorrow, but he says he wants to go, so hopefully he'll sleep better tonight and be less grumpy!

Well I was planning on blogging a card yesterday, but to be honest I've had such a rotten couple of days with Dex - he's poorly (just a bad cold), but he's not sleeping well, and is in the worst, stroppiest mood ever... I'm finding him very challenging at the moment!  So although I had a card that I could have shown, I just couldn't face blogging at all.  Hubby's working a few hrs this morning, but when he gets back I'm handing over full child-pacifying duties and going upstairs to hide!

A Gem of a Challenge - ribbon & lace

Sorry, running a bit late today - I've got a rotten cold and being out for a couple of hours this morning seemed to finish me off... I slept most of the afternoon... oops!  So many bugs around at the moment, wish they'd leave us all alone.  Dex is poorly too and he can't sleep with his bunged up nose, so that means we're all tired too!

Anyway... here's my DT card for A Gem of a Challenge, where our new theme is 'ribbon & lace'.

I've made this one for an order... I don't have an Aunty Marg lol.

Oh, and someone asked me how I get the pearls to look round with the Viva pearl pens - I've found if your pearls are teeny they are naturally fairly rounded.  But if you need them bigger, like the ones on this pretty tree, add your pearls and then tap the underneath of your piece of card a few times and this will round them out... hope that helps :o)

I've been playing with it today and it's FAB!  It cuts and embosses beautifully... now I just need some of the bigger dies so I can play with it properly... hopefully Father Christmas will bring me some of them!

Thanks for all your lovely get well messages.  I'm feeling much better today, so fingers crossed it was just a 24hr thing.  It does seem to have done away with my mojo though, as I've mostly been shuffling paper around in the craft room today - sooo frustrating when I've got so much to do!

Dex came out of school with his thumb all wrapped up this afternoon - he's somehow managed to rip most of his fingernail off, and it looks so sore!  Apparently he did it playing with the sticklebricks... no, I'm not entirely sure how, but it makes me 'ouch' just thinking about it!
