It's week 21 of my little Waste Not Wednesdays challenge, here to get you using all that neglected and unused stash... we've all got lots of that, haven't we? I've made 2 cards, which also fit this week's challenge at Less is More which is 'not a square' - Chrissie and Mandi would like to see shaped cards.
These flowers are one of the oldest things in my stash - from a pack of die cut flowers that I bought before I owned a die cutter. There's a die by Stampin' Up that looks exactly the same though, so maybe I'll treat myself to that now I've actually used these ;o) The gem brad (which is the same colour as the little gems, although it looks darker in the photo) was also an early purchase, I've probably had them for 3 or 4 years. The sentiment is Stampin' Up, butterflies cut with Kars punches and gems from my stash. The shaped card was cut with the new framelits dies from Stampin' Up, and this time I've got it to stand up by cutting a little straight edge at the bottom of the back piece - see pic below... thanks for the suggestion Catherine!
And then I made a similar card using black flowers from the same pack, a red gem brad and pearls. The cardstock for both cards is white hammered card from Papermill Direct. I'm not overly thrilled with these cards, they're not quite working for me - not sure why though!
Do you remember my moaning last year when I let myself be pressured into having Dex's surfer dude blond hair cut shorter? We let it grow again, but recently he's been asking for it to be cut short, so I took him today and he asked for it 'as short as Morgan's'... well Morgan's is very short... she got the clippers out and I nearly cried lol! It's going to take some getting used to - he looks very grown up all of a sudden, but he's thrilled with it so that's the most important thing I suppose. I'll add a photo tomorrow if he'll let me take one.
Hope you all have a lovely evening :o)
Gorgeous cards. I am loving the shape of the framelits. Made a couple of cards recently for a friend's SU display and have been toying with the idea of getting them..... Oooh I dunno. What to do lol.

Hi Lisa, aren't these just fabulous! Love the flowers and the shapes are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to join in this week, but have got a busy few days coming up and then half-term next week so if I don't make please excuse me!
Luckily with don't have the hair scenario with Emily - a bob and done and she still looks girlie, but I remember one of my friends sobbing over her little boys first 'big boy' haircut! He had wonderful curly hair, but wanted it gone to be 'a big boy'!

I love the flowers and shape of these gorgeous cards.

ReplyDeleteLovely cards, I really like them. The black one really stands out. Brill idea with the framelits as I've just ordered mine. Will put my lim card on tomorrow and will add to your waste not Wednesday as I've also used really old stuff.

P.s I know exactly what u mean about boys haircuts!!
Oh these are both stunning Lisa - the flowers are gorgeous and I can see why you would want the punch :o)
ReplyDeleteWe have the opposite problem with Jack's hair - when I was 'in charge' of when and how he had it cut it was always short and really suited him - but now he is 'in charge' he won't get it cut and it looks a mess lol!!! That's teenagers for you!!!
Have a fab evening.
Take care
Debs xx

The white on white with the gems is soooo pretty! So is the black on white.
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards, love the simplicity of them but they look so elegant at the same time. The black flower on the white really stands out. Hope you get used to Dex's hair being shorter, last year Abi's was down to her bum and she went mad to have it cut off to her shoulders. I hated it but it did make her look more grown up and its growing back long again now lol!!

Gorgeous cards Lisa, they are both so elegant.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are getting used to Dexter's hair. My Jack is only two and I am dreading him getting his first hair cut. xx
I thought these were Su's daisy die! It is my absolute fav as they remind me of gerberas - the flower that was in my wedding bouquet (and my husband doesn't think I'm romantic!!)
ReplyDeleteLove your shaped card. The bling in the centres is fab and on the butterflies. x
These are gorgeous...simple but elegant. Hugs Ann xxx
ReplyDeleteSo elegant, I love the white one especially. And you use those little butterflies to such great effect.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering Lisa, where do you buy your linen card from? I'd love to get some but I can't find it anywhere!
Hope you have a great jubilee weekend!
So pretty! These would be perfect in the Unruly Paper Arts Reader's Art Quest, too--you might want to check it out?
