Paper ban...

** This post will stay at the top of my blog so I CAN'T conveniently forget! Please scroll down for more recent posts **

We've been out most of today so I've not had chance to make anything, but I thought I'd give this its own 'official' post lol... I've decided to ban myself from buying anymore papers until the New Year!  Eek, I'm scared just typing it! But seriously, I have an obscene amount of paper and I really need to start using some of it up.

Of course, my ban doesn't apply to stamps or dies, or anything else I might fancy tee hee, just paper.  Hmm, if I don't hit 'publish' then I can just forget all about this can't I?!... nope, here goes...

**2nd July update - One whole month into the ban, no cheating and I'm 'coping' ok... buying lots of stamps though lol**

** 19th Nov update - Wow, not too long to go now!  Can you believe I haven't bought any papers since the end of May?!  It's not been easy, but I've got used to it and don't even consider buying papers now - before if I saw something I liked on someone's blog I'd have rushed off and bought it straight away... I don't feel the need to do that now, so hopefully it's achieved something and when the ban is lifted I'll do less impulse buying.  I must admit though, I'm getting SO desperate for that lovely feeling of flicking through a brand new paper pad - I can't wait for January! **

  1. Oh hun, you do make me laugh - but only because I know exactly where you are coming from (having spent nearly an hour on Sunday looking for a particular paper - I was horrified how much I have). I think you are brave to try this, and if you succeed, you may be rewarded ...... ;oD Hugs, Sxx

  6. Lisa, it's hard going but I did the whole of last year and a few months into this year just doing that ie using paper I'd bought/been given by people for my cards I make for charity. The only papers I would print off were for my DT cards. It certainly wasn't easy and I nearly gave up on soooooooo many occasions but give it a go. Best wishes, Kym xxxx

  18. Oh Lisa..you sound like me lol! So many endless stacks, pads, and not to forget my own branch of Papermill under the bed! I don't feel as bad now though since I got my Mum in to scrapbooking last year. I've passed a lot of my 12x12 stash onto her and she's making very good use of it. Trouble is for every sheet I give away, I buy 2 more in it's place!! Like an addiction it is. Anyway....GOOD LUCK!! xx Jenny xx

  23. Lisa, now if you'd said stamps I would've been seriously worried for you! Papers I can do without - I brought some at the Lincoln Sincerely Yours show last weekend, first lot for 3 mths. Stamps are another matter - I have a slight addiction! Best of luck with the resolution - hope you do it. Sarah

  24. good for you Lisa!!! I once put myself on a 6 month spending ban on all craft materials, except essentials like card and adheasive!! my idea was to put a dent in my crafty stash ..... in all honesty It didn't make a noticeable dent at all, however I was very proud of my self control, and Its amazing that in a way it can make you more creative as you look at ways you can use what youv'e got and also there is a lot of fun redescovering forgotten stash ....... and also the first time you go shopping afer a crafty ban is sooooooooo much fun!!!

Wish you all the best for your ban ... I am sure you will manage fine!! and I cant wait to see all the yummy creations you make between now and then!

    Hugs Juls

Will be very interested to see if you can make it to the new year though. Your willpower must be stronger than mine! Make sure you resist those SU papers on saturday!!

  46. Well done Lisa, I am currently on my ban top buy anything crafty until I've made 100 projects, which is not as bad as I thought. Of course, if anyone want to give me a crafty prezzie, like my husband, I couldn't possibly say no............it's only polite! ;)

  49. I'm glad you're coping, Lisa; I really (seriously) need to impose a self ban on buying digital images...they're like nail biting - readily available and therefore hard to give up! I admire your strength of will, well change in focus anyway, lol. Dee

  50. Its a great idea Lisa and you CAN do it! Lets face it we all can do it too as weve all got masses of stash that we just neglect!

Ive always been a digi paper fan so Ive stopped printing anything else off until Ive checked my vast pile of sheets already printed!

Just think of what you'll be saving too??!!

  52. Hang in there :) I have the same "problem" even if I haven't officially banned myself from buying papers. Good thing I live in Sweden where we barely have any scrapshops and it's expensive to get them shipped by mail. My fiancée was in the US earlier this year and I asked him to get me some paperpads. I admire you for being strong because they were so cheap and so much to choose from! I don't think I would make it if I lived in the US :D

    ReplyDelete
  53. Gosh I would fi d that so hard to do because then it would mean I would have to cut all the beautiful papers I have and I can never bring myself to do that so I just keep on buying! Weird or what???

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wow you're so brave to tell people lol! Don't think i could last long without my paper fix!

  55. Sounds like a good idea, think I could learn something from you there :)
I'd like to try that with all my crafty things, I'm sure I'd make better use of the stamps and embossing powders/folders etc if I didn't get distracted by new crafting goodies.

Not much longer till new year ;)
