Spotlight Challenge - inchies

Our new challenge starts today on the Crafty Cardmakers Spotlight Challenge blog, and for this fortnight we'd like to see you use at least 3 inchies... no I didn't really have a clue but thought I'd have a go!  There are far more fabulous examples from the rest of the DT - I should have had a play about with something more artistic but as usual I've not had enough time!

I've used a stamp from Little Claire called Cat in a Box, which is actually a grid of 9 squares - I've cut 3 of them out to use for my card.  They're coloured with promarkers, with a few pearls added below the sentiment square.  Papers are Dovecraft 'animal antics' with core'dinations cardstock and ribbon from my stash.

I'm entering my card for the following challenges:
Apologies if I haven't managed to get round to your blog yet - I'm doing my best to catch up!  It's a bit busy here with a demo to prepare for and orders to be made, and my mum's wedding next Monday!  Not sure if I've mentioned the wedding before as it all feels a bit strange, but my dad died more than 10yrs ago now and so it shouldn't come as too much of a shock really!  I'm happy for my mum, but feel sad that we're not as close as we were before she met her hubby to be.  Trying not to be a spoilt brat about it though lol, and I made their invites as a gift for them and went shopping with mum for her outfit, so hopefully she doesn't know I'm not totally thrilled!

  4. I just love this inchie card Lisa - those stamps are purrfect! (sorry!) I know just how you feel about your Mum's wedding and the changes in your relationship. My Mum went out with a few men after my dad died when I was in my late 20s. I hated them all and if she'd said she was going to get married I'd have had something to say!!! However, I'm in my 50s now and Mum is 76 and I really, really wish she'd married again as I can see how lonely she's been. Also, I'm probably being really selfish now, but if she had a husband I wouldn't feel it was my sole responsibility to look after her as it all feels a bit too much at times. It's hard at the moment, hun, but I'm sure you'll develop a new/different relationship. Sometimes I feel that my daughter doesn't need/love/want me as much as she used to because she's got her own kids now but, again, it's just adjusting to changes.
Sorry to go on but I could really relate to how you're feeling. xxxxxx

I no how you feel! I had to get used to a "step Mam" A year after my Mam passed away! I was devastated at the time. My Dad's 88 and she is a godsend. SM is 77. Although not my Mam she has always been there for me when I needed her and she takes good care of my Dad

  21. Hi Lisa

Great card .. .. lovely little inchies.

    Gorgeous backing papers too.

I don't think you are being a spoilt brat about things .. .. I think you are just missing what you used to have and see your potential step Dad as the person that has changed everything and deep down you perhaps resent him for that.

It must be very hard for you but it sounds like you have made a big effort.

    Take care.

    Love Jules xx

  26. I totally love this card, to me it's just perfect (ha I managed to avoid the obvious pun there!)

I'm just glad there's someone else out there that thinks orange and green go together. I'm forever being told they don't.

I think it's understandable about the mixed feelings you have about your mum's wedding. I just hope that you all have a wonderful day together.
