Less is More wk 11 - acetate!

I'm sure the wails and moans from LiMettes could be heard EVERYWHERE this weekend when the new challenge at Less is More was announced... I loathe acetate!  I'm convinced somewhere buried in my craft room there's a sheet of acetate pre-printed with black flourishes, but I've searched for ages and can't find it.  So this is what I ended up making...


Oh the air was BLUE while I was making this!  I decided to die cut a butterfly, but I ran it through the Big Shot and it didn't cut through.  So I ran another piece of acetate through, twice this time, and it still didn't cut through.  So I got another piece and ran it through the Big Shot 6 times... it still didn't cut through... aaaggghh!!!  So I resorted to following the lines that had been partly cut, and cutting it out by hand. Then I embossed it with a little daisy embossing folder that was free with a magazine.  I've sprayed it with lots of Crafter's Companion iridescent glitter spray (not really showing in pic but very shimmery in real life) and added some pearls.

Now I've finished it, I've no idea if it's really clean & simple enough... maybe I've used too much paper?  I don't know, I'm just glad to have it done!  The most annoying thing is after all that effort, you can't really see the sparkly acetate properly in the pic anyway - all seems a bit pointless lol!

    This is beautiful, Lisa! I'd love to know what butterfly die you used, I've been looking to get a new one. I never work with Acetate either, I need to become more adventurous!

    Hi Lisa, the card is lovely and the butterfly does look sparkly. Never used acetate and after hearing your thought not sure I will try lol.

    Beautiful card. I also struggle with cutting acetate with the Bigshot. Sometimes it works if you put a piece of card over the acetate and cut both out together (making sure you alter the tabs if neccessary!)

    Well all I can say in our defence is that
    a)we do like to give you a real challenge
    b)the fabulous work which has emerged from being truly challenged is nothing less than stunning!
    This is FABULOUS!
    The butterfly, despite its difficult metamorphosis is beautiful and worth all the effort, the card as a whole is exquisite!

    Oh this is gorgeous Lisa. Next time you try to use die cut acetate layer a piece of paper on top, so it cuts through paper before it gets to the acetate. Gosh I hope that made sense!

    Its a beautiful card. I also tried die cutting a butterfly but on my Cuttlebug and the da**n thing just wouldn't cut. You've more patience than me, I binned mine! Sarah

    I think it's clean and simple. The backing paper is so delicate in colour and pattern, and the butterfly is just gorgeous. It's fabulous!!

    This is sooo gorgeous, the colours are soft and muted and your butterfly IS worth the hard work.

    I think though, to be totally honest you NEED to sent it to me so I can inspect how glittery it is IRL :)

    Perfectly clean and simple! The butterfly is gorgeous, but I know you never feel the same about the ones that cause you such grief! We don't have that prejudice and can appreciate it just for it's beauty! Dee
