Back from holiday to bad news

Well we're back from our holiday in Skegness - the weather was fab nearly the whole time, only one morning with a couple of rainy showers. We've had a great time and the kids have loved it, I'll post some holiday pics later.

Unfortunately we came back home to some very bad news. My MIL's cancer has returned - she had breast cancer a couple of years ago, the prognosis at the time was quite gloomy but following a mastectomy and chemo etc, she's been doing well. She'll now have to go through the whole thing again, I feel so bad for her. It's made more difficult for her because she's Polish and therefore doesn't understand half of what's going on around her, and she has twin boys who are severely autistic (Pav's half brothers) and unable to cope with any change to their routine. Last time she had treatment, they would go on a rampage if she wasn't there as usual when they returned from school, smashing everything they could get hold of and screaming, and they were terrified of her when she lost her hair. It's just horrible for her, knowing she's going to have to go through it all over again.

I'm off to a barbeque with the kids tonight, while Pav goes out with some friends, but hopefully I'll get chance to update with some pics when I get back, and make a start on some cards. I took all my distress inks and promarkers with me to colour some images while I was away but didn't get chance to do much.

If I can find the time I think I'd like to have a go at making a small scrapbook for my MIL, with pics of the kids in - we won't be able to visit her often while she's having treatment, because her immunity will be low and we can't risk passing on any bugs, and she'll be too exhausted for proper visits anyway. I know how much she'll miss the boys, so I'd like to do something like that for her - never done any scrapbooking before though so I'm not sure where to start!

I think I've probably rambled on enough for now, be back later!

I am really sorry to hear about that Lisa. I think a scrap book would be a lovely idea, especially if they are as nice as your cards.

Found your blog from Crafty Cardmakers - your beautiful cards just made me visit! Sorry to hear about your Mother in Law. My mom dealt with all that 5+ years ago &, although she's finished with treatment and doing quite well, her cancer coming back is one of my biggest fears. Hope your MIL comes out of this bout as well as she did the first. I'm sure she'll love the scrapbook of your beautiful boys.

Oh, Lisa, I think your MIL is so brave and I wish you and her and your family well for the future months.
